Essendon Makes Initial Trade Offer for Keidean Coleman
Essendon has submitted a trade offer of pick 27 for Brisbane defender Keidean Coleman, who requested a trade less than 24 hours ago. The Lions, however, are not fully satisfied with this proposal.
The Bombers possess picks 17, 21, and 27, along with their number one pick this year, to negotiate with Brisbane. Reports indicate that the Lions would prefer a top-20 selection for Coleman, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of next year. Essendon has stated that their two early picks are not available for this trade.
Following a meeting with new Bombers coach Mark McVeigh, Coleman expressed his desire to explore a move after struggling with injuries in recent seasons. He suffered a ruptured ACL in the first game of 2024 and missed the entire season, playing only one game in 2025 and 13 in 2026. Despite these setbacks, he was a standout player for the Lions in their 2023 Grand Final loss, attracting interest from multiple clubs this off-season.
