Essendon Pursues Delisted Defender Zac Williams
Essendon has expressed interest in signing Zac Williams, a defender recently delisted by Carlton. The inquiry follows previous interest from Sydney, which is looking for cover after losing defenders Nick Blakey and Harry Cunningham.
Williams met with Essendon at The Hangar on Thursday morning as he evaluates his options. Both Essendon and Sydney aim to recruit him through the AFL's Category B Rookie spot, designated for First Nations players.
Throughout his career, Williams has played 183 games, including eight seasons with Greater Western Sydney and six with Carlton. The 32-year-old is known for his versatility, having played various positions on the field. Essendon is actively seeking versatile players this off-season, having already traded for Jack Bowes and pursuing Bailey Banfield.
