Ethan Salas Makes History with First MLB Hit

Ethan Salas, a player for the San Diego Padres, made history on Sunday night by recording his first Major League Baseball hit, a triple, during a game against the San Francisco Giants.

This significant achievement occurred in the top of the fourth inning when Salas hit a 2-2 pitch to deep right field. At 20 years and 144 days old, he became the youngest player in Padres history to hit a triple and the youngest catcher to do so since Ricky Seilheimer in 1980.

Prior to this moment, Salas had struggled at the plate, going 0-for-14 in his first six games. He was called up by the Padres on September 1 after an impressive minor league season, where he hit 10 home runs and had a .296 batting average. The team hopes this hit will lead to a strong finish to the season.
