Eugenio Chacarra Leads DP World India Championship as Rory McIlroy Struggles
Eugenio Chacarra has extended his lead at the DP World India Championship held at Delhi Golf Club, while Rory McIlroy lost ground before the third round was halted due to darkness.
Chacarra, who is aiming for his third win of the season, led by one shot at 10 under after two rounds and increased his advantage to two shots after completing 11 holes of his third round. He birdied four of his first seven holes, solidifying his position at the top. Angel Hidalgo and Joost Luiten are his closest competitors at 12 under, with Scott Jamieson one shot behind.
McIlroy, currently third in the Race to Dubai rankings, fell 10 shots off the lead during a challenging third round. After a bogey-free second round, he started strong with a birdie but then experienced a series of setbacks, including four consecutive dropped shots. Despite an eagle on the 14th hole, he struggled to regain momentum. Patrick Reed, who is leading the Race to Dubai, played the first 13 holes of his third round and is two shots ahead of McIlroy.
