Eugenio Suárez and TJ Friedl Clear Waivers, Stay with Reds

Eugenio Suárez and TJ Friedl have both cleared waivers and will remain with the Cincinnati Reds, as reported by FOX 19. The decision comes after the Reds placed the two veterans on outright waivers earlier this week, hoping another team would claim them before the postseason eligibility deadline.

Suárez, who has a remaining salary of approximately $2.57 million from his $15 million contract, has struggled this season, batting .208 with 19 home runs. Friedl, on the other hand, has had an even tougher time, hitting just .158 with a potential arbitration raise looming. Both players are expected to be part of the lineup for the Reds' next game at Wrigley Field.

While neither player was claimed, the Reds may still consider placing them on waivers again in the near future. Suárez's contract includes a mutual option for $16 million, which could complicate future decisions, especially given his performance this season. Friedl is also a candidate for non-tendering as the team evaluates its roster options.
