European Tour Bars LIV Golf Players from Competing
The European Tour has implemented a new policy prohibiting golfers from participating in both its events and the LIV Golf league. Players must make a decision by October 25 regarding their future with LIV, which is currently facing bankruptcy challenges.
Previously, the European Tour allowed players to maintain their membership while participating in LIV events, provided they paid fines. However, the tour's chief executive, Guy Kinnings, emphasized a strict ultimatum, stating that players must choose between the two tours.
Several golfers, including Cameron Smith and Sergio Garcia, have been involved with LIV Golf, and the European Tour is also negotiating a renewed partnership with the PGA Tour. This situation adds pressure on players who wish to compete in the Ryder Cup next year, as membership in the European Tour is required.
