Ex-Girlfriend Testifies in Baja Surfer Murder Trial
The trial of three men accused of murdering surfers Jake and Callum Robinson from Australia and American Jack Carter Rhoad in Baja California began this week, following the surfers' disappearance in April 2024.
Ari Gisell, the ex-girlfriend of defendant Jesús Gerardo, testified that Gerardo had recounted to her the details of the killings, claiming the surfers had willingly surrendered their belongings and pleaded for their lives. Gisell, who was previously convicted for her role in instigating the robbery that led to the murders, described how she and Gerardo initially met the victims at Punta San José.
During her testimony, Gisell revealed that after the encounter, Gerardo expressed intentions to harm the surfers and later returned with their car, along with items belonging to the victims. She noted the blood on the car and Gerardo's boots, stating she refrained from questioning him due to his violent reputation. Gisell expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, asserting they deserved justice.
