F1 Reports 38% Revenue Decline in Second Quarter
Formula 1 experienced a significant revenue decline of 38% in the second quarter, totaling $764 million compared to $1.226 billion during the same period last year. This downturn follows a strong first quarter where revenue increased by 53% to $617 million.
The decrease in revenue is largely attributed to the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi events, as well as a reduction in the number of races from nine last year to five this year between April and June. Overall, for the first half of the year, revenue fell 15% to $1.381 billion, with operating income at $180 million.
In response to the financial challenges, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali announced plans to increase the number of Sprint races next season, aiming to enhance revenue streams. He emphasized the importance of maintaining exclusivity for these events while also highlighting the sport's adaptability and ongoing partnerships, including a notable agreement with Apple that has led to increased viewership.
