F1 Singapore GP Qualifying Delayed Due to Rain Disruption
Qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix in Formula 1 has been postponed following rain that disrupted the sprint race on Saturday, as announced by the FIA.
A heavy downpour hit the Marina Bay Street Circuit shortly before the sprint was set to begin, causing a 30-minute delay to clear standing water from the track. The sprint eventually commenced at 5:30 PM local time, delayed from the original start time of 5 PM, and was extended by five laps due to incidents involving several drivers.
As a result of these delays, the chequered flag was waved at 6:16 PM. Qualifying, originally scheduled for 9 PM, will now take place at 9:30 PM local time, adhering to sporting regulations that require a minimum gap after the sprint race.
