F3 Leader Praises New Madrid Circuit Ahead of F1 Debut

Formula 3 has conducted a test in Madrid in preparation for the new circuit's debut on the Formula 1 calendar, which will take place in 2026.

Freddie Slater, the championship leader, expressed enthusiasm for the Madrid track, calling it incredible to drive. During the test, he achieved the fastest time on the first day with a lap of 1m50.343s. On the second day, Ugo Ugochukwu from Campos Racing recorded the quickest lap at 1m49.034s.

The Madrid circuit, which features 22 corners and spans 3.365 miles, will replace Barcelona as the host of the Spanish Grand Prix under a 10-year agreement. The event is scheduled for September 11-13, 2026, coinciding with the F3 season finale in the city. Teams have been relying on simulator data for the test, as they adapt to the new track layout.
