Fabio Quartararo Penalized at British GP Due to Setup Error
Fabio Quartararo faced a penalty during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, which caused him to lose points and finish in 16th place. The penalty was a 16-second time addition due to a setup error related to his bike's tyre pressure monitoring system.
The issue arose when the front tyre pressure readings were not recorded by the monitoring system, despite the sensor functioning correctly. The stewards noted that the sensor ID was not registered in the receiver database, a mistake attributed to Quartararo's team during the bike's preparation.
The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, provided by OnRace Motorsports, requires each manufacturer to properly configure and register their sensors. The oversight by Yamaha in failing to include the sensor in the receiver's memory led to the penalty, marking a rare incident in the championship's monitoring history.
