Faf du Plessis Discusses MS Dhoni's Leadership Qualities

Faf du Plessis, the former captain of South Africa, has reflected on MS Dhoni's unique leadership qualities during their time at Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He highlighted Dhoni's instinctive gameplay and his ability to maintain composure under pressure as key factors that set him apart as a leader.

Du Plessis, who played nine seasons with CSK before moving to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2022, noted that Dhoni's approach involved reading the game as it unfolded rather than adhering strictly to pre-match plans. This adaptability influenced Du Plessis's own captaincy style.

While Du Plessis praised Dhoni's leadership, uncertainty surrounds Dhoni's future in the IPL. He has expressed a desire to play in the next season, but his participation will depend on his fitness, which he plans to assess before December. Dhoni missed the entire IPL 2026 season due to injuries, and his potential return is a significant topic for CSK, who have struggled in recent seasons.
