Falcons Release Troy Andersen, Sign Kristian Wilkerson

The Atlanta Falcons announced the release of linebacker Troy Andersen, a second-round pick from the 2022 NFL Draft, on Friday. In a corresponding move, the team signed wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson.

Andersen, selected as the 58th overall pick, faced challenges throughout his career with the Falcons, including injuries that limited his playtime. Despite showcasing his potential with notable performances, such as a game against the Saints in 2024 where he recorded 16 tackles and a pick-six, he struggled to maintain his health, missing the entire 2025 season due to a knee injury.

Initially, the Falcons' new management opted to keep Andersen through training camp in hopes of seeing him healthy, but he began camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, leading to his release. This decision marks a significant moment in Andersen's career, which may now be at a crossroads.
