Father in Penn State Drug Case Assigned New Judge
Paul Robinson, the father of an alleged leader in a drug trafficking operation connected to Penn State, has been assigned a new judge, as indicated by court documents filed on September 16.
Robinson will now appear before Judge Julia R. Rater, while 13 other defendants, including current and former Penn State students, will continue with President Judge Jonathan D. Grine, who has presided over all preliminary hearings for the group.
The reason for Robinson's reassignment remains unclear. His attorney, Mike DeRiso, mentioned that they have several motions prepared ahead of Robinson's arraignment on September 30. Robinson faces charges of felony tampering and hindering apprehension for allegedly concealing evidence related to the case, including hiding a safe with drugs and cash. His next hearing is set to be rescheduled, while his son, Thomas Robinson, is scheduled for a pretrial conference on November 16.
