Fatima Sana Fined for Code of Conduct Breach in Women's Asia Cup

Pakistan's cricket captain Fatima Sana has been fined 10 percent of her match fee and received one demerit point for violating the ICC Code of Conduct during a Women's Asia Cup match against India. The incident occurred during a Group A match held at the Dubai International Stadium, where Pakistan lost by seven wickets.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Fatima breached Article 2.5 of the Code, which pertains to using language or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter after their dismissal. The breach happened after she took a catch to dismiss Indian opener Shafali Verma, followed by a gesture towards the pavilion.

This marks Fatima's second offence within a 24-month period, bringing her total demerit points to two. She had previously received a demerit point during a T20 International against Ireland in August 2025. Fatima accepted the sanction proposed by the match referee, eliminating the need for a formal hearing. Despite the penalty, she will be available to lead Pakistan in their next match against Hong Kong China.
