Felix Balshaw: Rising Tennis Star Representing France

Felix Balshaw, a 20-year-old tennis player from Leeds, has made significant strides in the ATP rankings, climbing over 500 places since the start of 2026. He is the son of Iain Balshaw, an English Rugby World Cup winner, but has chosen to represent France in his professional tennis career.

Born in West Yorkshire, Balshaw moved to Biarritz with his family when his father joined a French rugby club. He has embraced his life in France, feeling increasingly French as he progressed in tennis. Recently, he celebrated his first ATP Tour victory and broke into the world's top 200 rankings.

Balshaw's connection to his father's legacy in rugby remains strong, as he draws inspiration from Iain's achievements. Despite limited visits to England, he acknowledges his father's impact on his life and career choices. Balshaw has expressed that while he considered rugby, tennis ignited a greater passion within him, leading to his current pursuit in the sport.
