Azeez, who is 25 years old, expressed a strong desire to leave Millwall for Premier League football. He joined Millwall from Reading in 2024 and scored 14 goals in 77 appearances. Millwall acknowledged his contributions, including 11 goals and eight assists last season, and thanked him for his time at the club.

Brighton's Sporting Director Mike Cave noted Azeez's status as one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship. The club is currently navigating its second league match of the 2026/27 season after a recent loss to Chelsea.
