Fermin Aldeguer to Undergo Surgery After Hand Injury at Mandalika
Fermin Aldeguer, a rider for Gresini Ducati, is set to have surgery on his right hand following a difficult weekend at the Indonesian Grand Prix, where he experienced multiple crashes.
The young Spaniard, who had previously celebrated his only grand prix victory at this venue, faced a challenging race weekend. After crashing twice on Friday, he was forced to start from Q1 but managed to qualify for Q2, only to crash again and secure a sixth-place grid position.
During the race, Aldeguer initially climbed to fourth place but fell at Turn 16 on the second lap. Post-race evaluations revealed a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand, necessitating surgery. He will travel to Barcelona for the procedure, with the next race scheduled in two weeks at the Australian Grand Prix.
