Fernando Mendoza Displays Potential in Preseason Game Against Texans
In his second preseason game on Thursday night, Las Vegas Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza had an extended opportunity to demonstrate his abilities against the Houston Texans, playing through the first half.
Mendoza completed 8 of 15 passes for 86 yards and threw one interception, which occurred early in the game when he misfired to running back Mike Washington Jr., allowing Texans linebacker Wade Woodaz to return it 80 yards for a touchdown, putting Houston ahead 17-0.
Despite the interception, Mendoza displayed his arm talent with notable completions, including an 18-yard pass to Malik Benson and a 22-yard throw to Jalen Nailor. His performance, while uneven compared to his first preseason outing against Arizona, provided valuable experience and highlighted his potential as he adapts to the NFL.
