Fernando Mendoza Shares Insights on Learning from Kirk Cousins

Fernando Mendoza, the rookie quarterback for the Raiders, has been taking full advantage of his role as a backup to Kirk Cousins. During an appearance on the NFL Network show Inside Training Camp, Mendoza expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to learn from Cousins' extensive experience.

Mendoza highlighted how Cousins has shared insights from his time with Coach Klint Kubiak in Minnesota, referencing specific plays from past games to enhance their offensive strategy. He noted that much of his learning comes from listening to Cousins as they discuss game concepts and progressions.

In addition to Cousins, Mendoza is also gaining knowledge from offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko and fellow quarterback Aidan O'Connell, who has significant experience with the Raiders. Cousins, who joined the Raiders in April after being released by the Falcons, has a history of mentoring young quarterbacks, including Michael Penix Jr. Mendoza, who won the Heisman Trophy last season, practiced with the first-team offense recently as Cousins was rested due to a practice incident.
