Fernando Mendoza Struggles in Raiders' Loss Against Texans
Fernando Mendoza had a difficult outing as the quarterback for the Raiders, contributing to a disappointing score of just three points against the Texans. The No. 1 overall pick faced significant pressure, taking a sack and being hit four additional times during the game.
Mendoza completed 8 of 15 passes for 86 yards in the first half, with a notable drop by Malik Benson that could have resulted in a larger gain. The Raiders' initial drive gained 55 yards, highlighted by a 22-yard pass to Jalen Nailor, but ended with an interception returned for a touchdown by Texans linebacker Wade Woodaz.
The only points for the Raiders came from a 52-yard field goal by Matt Gay, leaving them trailing 20-3 at halftime. Mendoza was replaced by Aidan O’Connell for the second half after his challenging performance, which followed a more promising debut against the Cardinals where he threw for 97 yards and a touchdown.
