Ferrari Dominates Opening Practice at Lone Star Le Mans
Antonio Giovinazzi achieved the fastest time in the opening practice for the Lone Star Le Mans, part of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship, held in Austin on Friday. Ferrari secured the top two spots, with Giovinazzi clocking a lap of 1m53.824s, finishing ahead of teammate Antonio Fuoco.
Alpine and Toyota followed closely behind, with Jules Gounon in the No. 36 Alpine A424 taking third place, nearly 0.4 seconds off the lead. The No. 8 Toyota was just 0.098 seconds behind Gounon. The session took place under hot conditions, with temperatures around 30°C, which drivers noted could complicate double-stinting during the race.
In the LMGT3 category, Tom Fleming set the fastest time in the No. 58 Garage 59 McLaren, finishing ahead of Maxime Martin’s No. 61 Iron Lynx Mercedes. The session saw competitive times across the board, with all top ten cars within 1.4 seconds of Fleming's benchmark. Free Practice 2 is set for later in the day.
