Ferrari Drivers Reflect on Austin Race Performance
Following a challenging qualifying session, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc expressed optimism after the recent race in Austin. Leclerc secured a second-place finish, while Hamilton placed fourth, both drivers acknowledging the difficulties they faced during the event.
Leclerc noted that despite his strong performance, race leader Kimi Antonelli had better pace on the medium tires. Hamilton, who struggled with used soft tires at the start, mentioned that this affected his race pace significantly. Both drivers emphasized the importance of improving their car's setup for upcoming races.
Leclerc pointed out that qualifying was a critical moment for Ferrari, as they had shown strong performance in practice but struggled to get the tires up to temperature during qualifying. Despite this setback, he has achieved two consecutive podiums and is optimistic about the team's direction. Team principal Fred Vasseur acknowledged the mixed emotions of the weekend, recognizing the team's overall progress while also feeling frustration over missed opportunities in qualifying.
