Ferrari Prepares for Mexico City Grand Prix
The Formula 1 World Championship continues in Mexico City this week for the 19th round, featuring the Grand Prix at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Scuderia Ferrari arrives with positive momentum from recent races, seeking to achieve another solid result.
The Autódromo is situated at 2,285 meters above sea level, creating distinct atmospheric conditions that affect car performance. The thinner air reduces drag, enabling high speeds, but also complicates cooling for the power unit and brakes. The track includes a long start-finish straight leading into a challenging braking zone, along with a section that runs through the Foro Sol stadium, known for its vibrant atmosphere.
Team principal Fred Vasseur emphasized the need for focus and determination, noting that the altitude presents unique challenges compared to previous races. He expressed the goal of maintaining their recent positive trajectory. Additionally, Juan Sebastian Navarro, Head of Composite Design, highlighted the need for specialized solutions to manage cooling and downforce effectively at this high-altitude circuit.
