Ferrari Secures Victory at WEC Austin Following Toyota's Late Mechanical Failure

Ferrari achieved its inaugural World Endurance Championship victory of 2026 at the Lone Star Le Mans, benefiting from a late mechanical failure of the leading Toyota. The No. 50 Ferrari, driven by Nicklas Nielsen, Antonio Fuoco, and Miguel Molina, took the lead with just 15 minutes remaining when the No. 7 Toyota TR010 experienced a hydraulic issue.

Initially, the Toyota team, featuring Nyck de Vries, Kamui Kobayashi, and Mike Conway, seemed poised for victory after advancing from ninth on the grid. However, the race took a turn when the Toyota slowed, allowing the Ferrari to inherit the lead. The No. 38 Jota Cadillac V-Series.R, driven by Jack Aitken, Sebastien Bourdais, and Earl Bamber, finished in second place, while the No. 35 Alpine A424 secured third.

The race commenced under a safety car due to wet conditions, with the track drying out as the event progressed. The Ferrari team executed strategic pit stops, which helped them gain positions throughout the race. Despite a strong performance from the Toyota, the late failure ultimately shifted the outcome, marking a significant win for Ferrari.
