Ferrari Staff Compare Lewis Hamilton to Michael Schumacher, Says Former Engineer

Rob Smedley, a former race engineer for Ferrari, has indicated that long-time staff at the team are noticing similarities between Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.

After a challenging first season with Ferrari in 2025, Hamilton has made a strong comeback under the new Formula 1 technical regulations, achieving his first victory with the team at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix and securing several podium finishes. Currently, he ranks second in the drivers' championship as the summer break approaches.

Smedley, who worked at Ferrari during Schumacher's tenure, mentioned that Hamilton's presence is revitalizing the team. He emphasized that Hamilton's status as a seven-time world champion motivates the team and evokes memories of Ferrari's peak performance era when Schumacher led the team to multiple titles.
