
Ferrari's Antonio Giovinazzi Secures Pole Position at WEC Austin
Antonio Giovinazzi from Ferrari secured pole position at the 2026 World Endurance Championship in Austin after a closely fought Hyperpole session on Saturday. He recorded a lap time of 1m52.445s in the #51 Ferrari 499P, finishing ahead of Cadillac's Jack Aitken, who matched the time but was placed second due to Giovinazzi's earlier lap.
Charles Milesi in the #35 Alpine A424 LMDh achieved third place with a time of 1m52.474s, while Harry Tincknell in the #007 Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH qualified fourth. Nicklas Nielsen in the second AF Corse Ferrari secured fifth with a lap of 1m52.833s, followed closely by Victor Martins in the #36 Alpine.
The Lone Star Le Mans six-hour race is set to commence at 13:00 local time on Sunday, following a competitive qualifying session where the top four cars were separated by just 0.050 seconds.
