FIA Confirms New Regulations for 2027 World Rally Championship
The FIA has officially ratified important sporting regulations for the 2027 World Rally Championship, which will introduce a revised Teams' title and new technical specifications.
Following a recent meeting of the World Motor Sport Council, the FIA detailed changes that will see the introduction of WRC27 cars and updated Rally2 kit cars in the top category. The Rally1 class will continue, featuring both WRC Cars and WRC Kit Cars built to two distinct sets of regulations, aimed at achieving comparable performance levels.
Notably, Toyota and Project Rally One are among those developing new WRC Cars, while M-Sport is the only team committed to the new Rally2 update kit. This kit will enhance performance with an increased turbo restrictor, providing an additional 15 horsepower. The Manufacturers' title will now be known as the Constructors’ Championship, allowing any Rally1 manufacturer to compete across the season. Additionally, the new Rally6 category aims to lower entry costs for drivers, featuring two-wheel-drive cars based on production vehicles.
