FIA Court Upholds Gasly's Penalties, Alters Monaco Grand Prix Results

The Monaco Grand Prix has seen a revised outcome nearly three months post-race, as the FIA International Court of Appeal has upheld penalties against Pierre Gasly.

The court's decision reinstates two five-second penalties for Gasly, moving him from third to seventh place. Isack Hadjar is now recognized in third for Red Bull, while Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson, and Arvid Lindblad each advance one position. The court has mandated that the race classification and championship documents be updated accordingly.

The controversy arose when Gasly was recorded exceeding the 60 km/h pit-lane limit. Initially, stewards rescinded the penalties based on a recalculated measurement, but the appeal court confirmed the original measurement was accurate. It emphasized that fairness required consistency in the measurement used across the event, despite the potential for future improvements in timing methods.
