FIA Implements Heat Hazard Procedures for Italian Grand Prix

The Italian Grand Prix will implement Formula 1's Heat Hazard procedures as the FIA forecasts indicate that the heat index will surpass 31 degrees Celsius on race day.

This decision was made prior to the start of activities at Monza, allowing teams to set up necessary cooling equipment and adjust weight provisions in advance. Drivers have the option to wear a cooling vest with circulated chilled liquid, or alternatively, carry 0.5kg of ballast if they opt out of the vest.

The heat index takes humidity into account, with temperatures in the Monza area expected to exceed 35 degrees on Friday and around 33 degrees on race day. The cockpit will be significantly warmer due to the surrounding equipment and protective clothing. The FIA's early declaration aims to mitigate risks associated with dehydration and heat stress, as northern Italy faces a heatwave.
