FIA President Addresses F1 Stewards Controversy After Dutch Grand Prix

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem responded to the scrutiny surrounding Formula 1 stewards following penalties issued to drivers Franco Colapinto and Arvid Lindblad during the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.

Both drivers received drive-through penalties for overtaking under yellow flags after a crash involving Max Verstappen. Their penalties drew criticism from fans, particularly in Argentina, and led to an investigation by the FIA into the online abuse directed at the stewards.

During a media session in Buenos Aires, Ben Sulayem acknowledged the need for training and potential rotation of stewards, noting that complaints about steward decisions are not limited to Argentina but have also been voiced in Britain. He emphasized the importance of fairness in officiating and condemned the online harassment faced by stewards, highlighting a collective effort needed to combat this issue across the motorsport community.
