FIA President Committed to Retaining Alonso and Honda in F1
The president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, is focused on ensuring that Fernando Alonso and Honda remain in Formula 1. He has expressed a willingness to take significant measures to support both the two-time world champion and the engine supplier.
Ben Sulayem's commitment includes potential concessions to Honda to enhance its competitiveness. He emphasized that Alonso should not leave the sport under current circumstances, stating that a champion deserves to exit on a high note rather than due to performance issues.
Alonso, when questioned about his future plans, remained non-committal, suggesting that he is evaluating the impact of upcoming regulations on racing. Ben Sulayem has also engaged with Aston Martin's team owner, Lawrence Stroll, to address performance concerns and is seeking input from Alonso on how to improve results.
