FIA President Confirms Qatar and Abu Dhabi Races Will Proceed
FIA president Mohammed ben Sulayem has confirmed that the season-ending races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi are expected to proceed as planned. He expressed his confidence during a media event at the unveiling of a new Remote Operations Centre in Biggin Hill.
Ben Sulayem's assurance comes amid rising tensions in the region, particularly due to the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Houthi rebels. Although this situation previously led to the cancellation of races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, he emphasized that the current conditions do not pose a significant threat to the UAE.
He acknowledged the volatility in the area but reiterated that there are no immediate concerns regarding the races. Ben Sulayem also mentioned that the FIA is prepared to adapt if necessary, including having alternative plans in place for hosting events.
