FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem Shares Passion for American V8 Cars
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the president of the FIA, has disclosed that he owns a collection of 160 American V8 cars, which he enjoys taking apart and restoring.
During an interview with The Drive in Austin, he attributed his love for these vehicles to his upbringing in the United Arab Emirates, where the environment favored large American cars due to open roads and low fuel costs. He expressed a particular fondness for the sound and the sense of freedom that American V8s provide.
Ben Sulayem emphasized the importance of enhancing the cars, focusing on modifications to the frame, engine position, suspension, and brakes. He noted that modern brakes and tires make these powerful vehicles more manageable. When asked about his favorite car, he mentioned a Cadillac as his top choice. With a vast collection, he finds continuous motivation in the restoration process, always looking for the next project.
