FIA President Supports Dual F1 Races in Spain

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the president of the FIA, expressed support for hosting Formula 1 races in both Madrid and Barcelona, despite the championship's efforts to limit its calendar.

Madring has a contract to host races until 2035, while Barcelona-Catalunya is set to return in 2028, 2030, and 2032 under a rotation plan. The organizers of Barcelona are keen on securing an annual event.

Ben Sulayem noted that both cities cater to different markets and offer distinct circuits. He believes that while two races in Spain are feasible, the overall number of races in the championship should not exceed 24, citing concerns about driver and team fatigue. He also emphasized the importance of making the Madring facility useful beyond the Grand Prix weekend.
