FIA to Enforce Stricter Regulations Against Team Collusion in Formula E
The FIA has announced plans to enforce stricter regulations in Formula E to combat team collusion beginning in the Gen4 era. While team orders will still be permitted, the FIA aims to prevent teams from working together to manipulate race outcomes.
This decision follows incidents during the recent London finale, where a driver admitted to intentionally slowing down to assist a competitor from a different team. The FIA had already been considering these changes since the summer break, with new provisions set to take effect for the 2026-27 season.
The updated regulations will prohibit any agreements between teams that could interfere with race results. The FIA's Formula E chief clarified that while teams can still strategize internally, any collaboration between different teams will be banned. The FIA plans to monitor compliance through radio communications and on-track behavior to ensure fair competition.
