FIFA to Host Inaugural Women's Club World Cup in the U.S. in 2028
The inaugural FIFA Women's Club World Cup is set to take place in the United States from January 5 to January 30, 2028. This tournament will showcase 19 of the best women's soccer clubs from six different confederations.
The decision to host the event in the U.S. follows the country's successful co-hosting of the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup and its upcoming role in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. FIFA's Chief Women's Football Officer highlighted the thorough assessment process that led to the U.S. being chosen, citing its strong infrastructure and growing interest in women's football.
Seven teams have already qualified for the tournament, including notable clubs like Arsenal, FC Barcelona, and Club América. The event aims to elevate the profile of women's club soccer globally, with FIFA planning to establish a framework for club rankings and qualifications for future tournaments.
