Fijian Rugby Player Saimoni Vunilagi Dies at 26 from Suspected Heat Stroke in Japan

Saimoni Vunilagi, a 26-year-old rugby player from Fiji, passed away in Japan after experiencing suspected heat stroke during a training session with Kyushu Electric Power Kyuden Voltex, known as Kyushu KV.

Vunilagi showed severe symptoms of heat stroke on Monday and was hospitalized, but he died on Friday. The club announced his death on Saturday, stating that he had been transported for medical treatment after falling ill.

Kyushu KV, based in Fukuoka, reported that temperatures reached approximately 35°C on the day of the incident. The team expressed their devastation over the loss and extended condolences to Vunilagi's family, noting his recent arrival at the club and the high hopes for his contributions in the upcoming season.
