Final Qualification Path for 2027 FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship Confirmed
FIDE and Freestyle Chess have announced the final qualification details for the 2027 FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship, revealing that three spots are still available in both the Open and Women's categories.
The qualification process includes the Freestyle Friday Championship, which resumes on October 2, 2026, and runs weekly until December 4. Points from the first part will carry over, and the top players will compete in a knockout stage on December 11 and 18, with winners securing spots for the championship.
Subsequent online qualifiers will take place from November 29 to December 3, 2026, and from January 3 to 7, 2027, each awarding one championship spot. The 2027 championship is set to occur at Weissenhaus Private Nature Luxury Resort in Germany, with the Women's event scheduled for February 5-7 and the Open event from February 12-14, 2027. By January 7, 2027, all participants will be finalized.
