First Russian Diesel Shipment to the US Under New Agreement
The first shipment of Russian diesel to the United States is currently on its way, following a recent agreement between Moscow and US President Donald Trump. The tanker, Agioi Fanendes, is carrying 40,000 metric tons of ultra-low sulphur diesel and is expected to arrive in New York on November 7.
This shipment marks the first import of Russian diesel since a ban was imposed by former President Joe Biden in 2022. The deal, announced by Trump on October 9, includes an immediate export of 300,000 metric tons of diesel to the US and global markets, with further shipments planned.
The Kremlin confirmed the departure of the tanker but did not specify its destination. Russia has resumed diesel exports to traditional markets after lifting its own export ban, with additional shipments to the US anticipated as companies finalize contracts.
