Five Former Cricketers Interviewed for BCCI Selection Committee

Five former cricketers were interviewed for a vacancy on India's senior men's selection committee, following Ajit Agarkar's decision not to renew his contract that expired on October 4, 2026.

The Cricket Advisory Committee, consisting of Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, conducted interviews on October 15, 2026, with candidates including Wasim Jaffer, Ramesh Powar, Salil Ankola, Jacob Martin, and Connor Williams. While Williams has limited Test experience, the other four have represented India in Test matches.

Ankola has prior selection committee experience, having been part of the panel that selected India's 2024 T20 World Cup squad. Jaffer, noted for his extensive Test career, would become chairman of the selection committee if appointed. Powar is considered a leading candidate, having recently coached in domestic cricket.
