Florida State Dismisses Player Following High-Speed Chase Arrest
The Florida State Seminoles announced the dismissal of freshman cornerback Chauncey Kennon following his arrest in Hillsborough County, Florida.
On Sunday at 2 a.m. ET, Kennon was involved in a high-speed chase with Florida Highway Patrol officers after being flagged for driving 79 mph in a 50 mph zone. He reportedly reached speeds of 150 mph before stopping due to a flat tire and fleeing on foot.
During the incident, police found a woman with injuries who stated she had been with Kennon and had urged him to stop the vehicle multiple times. Kennon turned himself in on Monday evening and faces several charges, including fleeing to elude and false imprisonment. His attorneys have entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. Florida State cited conduct detrimental to the team as the reason for his dismissal, and he is no longer on the roster.
