Florida Woman Won't Face Charges for Fatal Shooting Over Parking Dispute

A woman in Florida will not be charged for fatally shooting a man during a confrontation over a parking space at a Walmart, as announced by prosecutors on Thursday.

The Broward County State Attorney's Office stated that the shooter, Melissa Payne, was acting in self-defense under Florida's stand your ground law. The incident occurred on June 30 in North Lauderdale and was recorded by various video sources.

Bart Diguglielmo, 62, was killed during the altercation, which began when both individuals attempted to park in the same spot. Witnesses reported that Diguglielmo exhibited aggressive behavior, threatening to damage Payne's vehicle before she shot him in the abdomen. Following the shooting, Payne was briefly detained but released after her account aligned with the video evidence, confirming her claim of self-defense.
