Flyers Struggle with Worst Start in Franchise History
The Philadelphia Flyers are experiencing a difficult start to the season, recording a franchise-worst 0-6-3 record. This marks the first time in nearly 30 years that a playoff team has begun the following season with a nine-game winless streak.
General manager Daniel Briere had previously expressed concerns about player complacency following last season's unexpected success. The team's performance has significantly declined, ranking last in several critical NHL categories. The Flyers' defense, which was a strength last season, has faltered, allowing 11 goals off the rush in just nine games.
Goaltenders Dan Vladar and Joseph Woll have performed well despite the team's struggles, but the Flyers have only managed to score 11 goals. Young players like Porter Martone and Matvei Michkov have not met expectations, with Martone scoring just one goal this season. Michkov leads the team in goals but has struggled during five-on-five play. Briere emphasized the need for the entire team to work cohesively to improve their performance.
