Force Blue Divers Engage in Ocean Conservation Efforts

Force Blue, a non-profit organization founded by Jim Ritterhoff, employs former military divers to participate in ocean conservation initiatives. Their recent mission involved assessing the health of coral reefs at the 100 Yards of Hope site off Key Biscayne, a project that began five years ago in collaboration with various scientific institutions.

The team, consisting of special operations veterans, dove to evaluate the coral's condition after facing numerous environmental challenges, including hurricanes and disease. Despite initial concerns about the coral's survival, divers reported finding a significant number of healthy coral colonies, which was encouraging given the harsh conditions they had endured.

Additionally, the mission highlighted a partnership with Luminox, a watch brand that created a specialized dive watch for Force Blue. This watch symbolizes the unique skills of the divers and their commitment to ocean conservation, emphasizing the responsibility that comes with their ability to dive.
