Former Australian Cricket Captains Urge Action for Imran Khan

Seven former captains of the Australian cricket team have reached out to Foreign Minister Penny Wong regarding the treatment of Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, amid rising concerns from the cricket community about his detention.

The letter, signed by Allan Border, Greg Chappell, Ian Chappell, Belinda Clark, Kim Hughes, Mark Taylor, and Steve Waugh, emphasizes their stance as former players rather than political figures. They highlighted the humanitarian aspect of Khan's situation, advocating for humane treatment regardless of political circumstances.

This appeal follows a previous letter from 22 former international captains to Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which expressed worries about Khan's health, particularly concerning his vision, and called for an independent medical evaluation. The former captains also requested that family visitations be honored as mandated by the Supreme Court of Pakistan and that any necessary medical treatments be provided promptly.
