Former Cleveland Browns Center Fred Hoaglin Passes Away at 82

Fred Hoaglin, a former center for the Cleveland Browns, passed away on August 1 in South Carolina at the age of 82. Hoaglin was drafted by the Browns in 1966 and became a full-time starter in 1967, contributing to three consecutive division championships from 1967 to 1969.

During his career, he made one Pro Bowl appearance in 1969 and played a key role in the team's offensive line. After his tenure with the Browns, he played for the Baltimore Colts, Houston Oilers, and Seattle Seahawks, participating in 142 NFL games over 11 seasons.

Following his playing career, Hoaglin transitioned to coaching, notably serving as the offensive line coach for the New York Giants, where he helped the team secure two Super Bowl titles. He is survived by his wife, two children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
