Former MLB Outfielder Butch Huskey Dies at 54

Butch Huskey, a former outfielder for the New York Mets, has died at the age of 54, as announced by the team. His passing occurred on Friday.

Huskey was drafted by the Mets in the seventh round of the 1989 draft and made his MLB debut in 1993. He played primarily with the Mets, where he became a regular player in 1996, achieving a .278 batting average over 118 games. After his tenure with the Mets ended in 1998, Huskey played for the Seattle Mariners and the Boston Red Sox, where he participated in the postseason. He concluded his MLB career in 2000 after playing for the Minnesota Twins and Colorado Rockies. Over his seven seasons, he appeared in 642 games, recording 86 home runs and 336 RBIs. Huskey was also notable for wearing the number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson.
