Former NFL Assistant Coach Kippy Brown Passes Away at 71

Kippy Brown, a former assistant coach in the NFL, passed away this week at the age of 71, as reported by Matt Young of the Houston Chronicle.

Brown had a lengthy coaching career that lasted 22 seasons, working with seven different teams. His last position was as the wide receivers coach for the Seattle Seahawks from 2010 to 2014, during which he earned a Super Bowl ring when the Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII.

Throughout his career, Brown also served as the offensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins under Jimmy Johnson and was the associate head coach for the Detroit Lions during their challenging 0-16 season in 2008. He had previously interviewed for the head coaching position with the Houston Texans in 2006. Brown coached Hall of Fame wide receiver Andre Johnson during his tenure in Houston and also had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets, and Green Bay Packers. Additionally, he was the head coach of the Memphis Maniax in the XFL in 2001 and was recognized as the first Black quarterback at Memphis during his college years from 1974 to 1977.
