Former NFL Player Jon Morris Passes Away at 84
Jon Morris, who was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 1964 NFL Draft, has passed away at the age of 84 following a prolonged struggle with dementia.
Morris was picked 27th overall by the Packers but opted to sign with the Boston Patriots, where he played for 11 seasons from 1964 to 1974. He participated in 130 games, starting 125, and earned six consecutive AFL All-Star selections from 1964 to 1969. He was also the first Patriots player to be named to the NFL Pro Bowl in 1970.
After a knee injury affected his later years with the Patriots, he was traded to the Detroit Lions, where he played for three seasons before finishing his career with the Chicago Bears. Morris was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2011, and his family plans to hold private services.
